The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently posted two reports with Medicaid long-term services and support (LTSS) expenditures data.  The first report focuses on the most recent data available, for Fiscal Year 2014, and recent trends such as 1) an increase in LTSS provided in managed care programs and 2) increased used of newer Medicaid LTSS options authorized in the Deficit Reduction Act and the Affordable Care Act.  The second report, called Improving the Balance, provides a historical perspective, with data from FY 1981 through FY 2014.  This report documents the impressive transformation of Medicaid LTSS from primarily institutional services to the present home and community-based services (HCBS) that represent 53 percent of LTSS spending.  A webinar to present and discuss data from both reports will be held July 14 at 2:00 Eastern.

GET YOUR KICKS ON ROUTE 31 (update from 5/28/16)

I thought tonight, that in view of funds that seem to be headed our way to modernize Route 31S in Spencer, MA., that I give a shout out to those brave and crazy speed demons that tore up and down the road to Charlton with their souped-up '53 Mercs, '55 Fords, '57 Chevys and more. I've been a passenger on many a ride to the Depot Bridge at speeds up to 115 mph, back in the days when those muscle cars and the backyard mechanics that drove them were the rage.
Here's to Paul "Porky" Gaucher, Bobby Schultz, Ray Kauppilla, Bruce "Doc" Snyder, Bob Clancy, Ronnie Bercume, Freddie Brunelle and many others that I'll add if I remember them or...if one of my readers suggests them.

WE LIKE ... If Charlie Parker Was a Gunslinger,There'd Be a Whole Lot of Dead Copycats. you will too.

Divorce Court Confidential! #11

Original Caption: Stromboli -- Final scenes of the Rossellini-Bergman film, Stromboli, which attracted world wide attention, are shot in an Italian political detention camp. Italian movie director Roberto Rossellini announced August 15 that Ingrid Bergman would file a divorce suit in her native Sweden against Dr. Peter Lindstrom, who flew to Stromboli to clear the obscure love triangle. Regardless of publicity and rumors, the shooting of the film goes on. While waiting for a scene, Miss Bergman knits and Rossellini reads a telegram.
