Diffusing the line between art and science

A new collaboration between two educational resource centers, Worcester Area Think Tank (WTT) and the Worcester Center for Crafts (WCC), is ditching the No. 2 pencils, putting flame-working tools in the hands of local teens and bringing forth a new curriculum that blends art and science.

Several years ago, Cinema 320 screened the documentary "51 Birch Street," in which director Douglas Block uncovers the difficult truths behind his parents' 54-year marriage, which he'd wrongly assumed to be idyllic. The death of his mother followed by his father's quick marriage to his former secretary set Block into investigative mode that left audience members asking: How much about my parents would I really want to know?
