Nerves frayed as school violence enters spotlight
To say the collective nerves of the city have been on edge since a madman broke into Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., and killed 20 young children would be an understatement. There is an edgy mood to school officials who already had been dealing with a trio of violent incidents involving some North High School students. In the days after the Newtown tragedy, however, the city has seen some high school and college students take advantage of the fear felt in most communities by threatening to commits acts of violence.
