Bloomington police seeking man in connection with shooting at eastside pool
Bloomington and Indianapolis police are searching for a 24-year-old man suspected of shooting two Bloomington men with a shotgun Tuesday evening at an eastside swimming pool.

Carlos Nunez, 24, is wanted in connection with the shooting at College Mall Apartments. He is possibly driving a Pontiac Grand Am, according to a press release from Bloomington police Lt. Bill Parker.

Nunez was described to police as being a dark complected man, about 170 pounds and an estimated 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall. He was reportedly wearing shorts and sneakers.

Bloomington police were called to a shooting at College Mall Apartments, on the 2600 block of East Second Street, about 6:40 p.m. Tuesday.

No one directly involved in the shooting was at the scene once police arrived, according to Parker.

A witness told police that a man wielding a shotgun walked into the pool area and fired the gun once at a man, also striking another man nearby, who was standing nearby, Parker said.

Detectives later interviewed Manuel Arteaga-Moreno, 24, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. He was seeking treatment of wounds to his left hand and upper torso area, according to Parker.

Arteaga-Moreno told police that he and 28-year-old Rigoverto Santos-Lopez had been invited to the pool by his girlfriend. Arteaga-Moreno reported that his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend came to the pool, armed with a shotgun and fired the gun at him before leaving the area on foot.

Arteaga-Moreno and Santos-Lopez left the area in a car. Police later found Santos-Lopez at his residence with a wound to his lower leg. He did not seek medical treatment at the time, Parker said.

Both men and the girlfriend identified Nunez as the shooter, Parker said.

Bloomington police searched for him in Indianapolis with assistance from Indianapolis Metro Police and members of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

By noon Wednesday, the shooting suspect remained at large.

Anyone with information about Nunez's whereabouts or about the shooting can contact Bloomington police at 812-339-4477.
