KKK running wild in the summer of 1924

Summer of 1924. Al Smith was running for president. Anti-Catholicism and "Know-Nothing" politics were common throughout the country. My father and his brothers, and my uncle Jack Dineen were part of the forces committed to rid New England of the Klan. As a youth, I knew most of the parties mentioned in this article.

Young Stribling was my father's favorite fighter.
Read his story to see just how amazing he was.-->

THANKS

yywhy About @yywhy

You know, I really appreciate that you are so responsive. I told you before that I just don't understand how it's technically possible to interact with such huge numbers of people. So I'm glad that you can handle what I can't and, although I might acquiesce and open up a little more on twitter, I'm pleased, so far, with the way I'm doing it right now.
Excelsior!

THE WEEK THAT WAS

Although this too is a blog, I use it as a sort of XLTweet application. There isn't any archive, nor is there a comment function. I may review that subsequently, but for now I try to keep it simple.
Anyway, I'll give you a little preview of what I'll be concentrating on for the next few days.
Tomorrow makes 47 years since Dallas. I'll be using to public blogs to review (for myself) and remind (for others) that for some of us, it doesn't seem so very long ago. The Pic is of A. Philip Randolph, head of the Pullman Porters Union and the force behind the March on Washington in the Summer of '63. Four friends and I, having driven all night from Bloomington, IN, spent 16 hours alongside Mr. Randolph and his group in a line that formed in front of the Supreme Court Building and broke up on the Mall side of the Capitol Building at about 3 am on November 25, 1963. Our group just serendipitously was in the rotunda when Mrs. Kennedy came to the casket for a few minutes in the middle of that sad night.

EPISODE #188 THE SUMMER OF GEORGE

[Majestic theater, Raquel Welch's dressing room.]

Raquel: "You are a fraud Dr Tarnover. You haven't even been to Scarsdale."

[Kramer knocks on the door and enters.]

Kramer: Ms. Welch.

Raquel: Who are you?

Kramer: Well, I'm Cosmo Kramer, I'm one of the producers.

[Phone rings and Raquel answers.]

Raquel: Hello, Sidney! No, no I told you I don't want to do that! If you bring it up again I will feed your genitals to a wolf! [hangs up] Kids! You're still here.

Kramer: Well, I- I Ms. Welch I do need to talk to you about a little problem regarding, eh, your performance.

[Raquel kicks a chair out of her way.]

Raquel: What kind of problem?

Kramer: Well, it seems that due to the vagaries of the production parameters of this fragmenting of the audience to the cable television, carnivals, water parks...

Raquel: Out with it!

Kramer: Well, you're fired because you don't move your arms when you tap dance, you're like a gorilla out there I've gotta go...

[Kramer runs out, but Raquel grabs him from the back.]

STUNTED?

"I like that very much," cried Hermine. "In your case, for example, the spiritual part is very highly developed, and so you are very backward in all the little arts of living. Harry, the thinker, is a hundred years old, but Harry, the dancer, is scarcely half a day old. It's he we want to bring on, and all his little brothers who are just as little and stupid and STUNTED as he is."

'CAUSE I DIDN'T SAY GOODBYE

@imtq is no longer, along with 23 precedents. Networking gets in the way of business, but I did meet a handful of nice folks among the couple thousand I followed at one time or another. If you're being sent this link, it means you're one of them.

HOW MANY CORMEYS?

CORMEY is a very rare last name

Very few last names in the US are CORMEY

Be proud of your unique last name!
